We meet people at eye level

In the midst the picturesque Weser Mountain region is a place called Holzminden. The given name of the “City of scents” is also hometown of HaWeTec, a social welfare institution.

Since 1995 the non-profit service company provides jobs for people with mental disabilities, who are temporarily or permanently unavailable to the general labor market. They also offer training and education of up to a 2-year-period.

Building bridges

Work life in general is of great importance to most people. It is an indicator for a socially accepted life. The close cooperation of medical specialists, clinics, the socio-psychiatric services of the department of Health and Human Services and counselling services are indispensable support for this work. All working-teams of HaWeTec are led by professionals of industry and educational science. One principle of HaWeTec is to meet everybody at eye level and also to meet every individual need concerning working hours, work atmosphere and work organization, including rewards for performed work.

Until now, in 2018, the number of employees with disabilities has risen to approx. 180 people. HaWeTec runs three units for vocational training with 12 working groups led by 35 trainers.
